Trump is a community access program offering one to one counseling, training and resources for the unemployed. Sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources for individuals who have been on Employment and Assistance Benfits, the program is designed to:
  • Identify roadblocks to employment
  • Identify strengths and skills
  • Explore options
  • Develop a personal plan of action
  • Boost opportunities for success

Career Choice

This program is designed to help workers find what their true job objective is, since the majority find themselves in work they find unrewarding or draining. Here, they create a career plan involving Vision, Implementation, and Contingency planning. In the end of the program the clients will have a better idea of what they really want as a career, and a plan on how to get it. Career Choice also includes the Implicit Career Search.

Job Wave

Job Wave is an extensive, highly focused initiative that links recent applicants to BC Benefits with employers who are looking to hire. It has helped over 4,000 people move from BC Benefits to long-term jobs over the last four years. It is a partnership between the Ministry of Human Resources, the BC Chamber of Commerce and the West Coast Group, which allows for access to more than 30,000 employers.

 

COIN - Community Opportunity for Independence Now

A non-profit organisation, COIN Volunteers coordinate access to modest funds, $100.00 or less, to help community members achieve their work goals and independence. Those who recieve support are unable to self-finance or cannot access support elsewhere. While gifts are an option, most support is provided through a loan arrangement.

 


PST - Petroleum Safety Training

The Petroleum Industry Training Service has designed and produced this safety training program for workers in the petroleum industry. This comprehensive program includes a WHMIS certificate as well as specialized lessons in four sectors of the oil industry. Learners need only take one of the optional lessons which pertain to their sector.

This CD-ROM training program is interactive and enables users to work at their own pace. After completing each individual lesson, learners are challenged with a short competency test. Total running time of the program is approximately six hours.

 

Vocational Assessments

Professional vocational assessment services are available by referral through an Employment Coach at the Employment Centre.
