Adventure and risk are things that Marilyn faces daily as she works diligently to provide the quality services you find here. She is The coordinator of the SCEC and Executive Director of M. Magas & Associates Inc.; the administrative body for SCEC and other services offered here. As a former teacher, and coordinator of the 'Working in Trades' program, Marilyn has 20+ years experience in career development. Marilyn strives to initiate new training and service opportunities to meet the unique needs of the residents of the community. She is responsible for ensuring the objectives of the programs are met and for reporting to the funders. Among Marilyn’s many credentials and acknowledgements is the Netty Award for Mentor of the Year in 2002.

Privacy Officer

Lynn is the Office / Financial Manager and Privacy Officer.  She has made the coast home since 1991.  Lynn is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the centre, purchasing, and performs the accounting procedures for all programs with an unerring eye to detail.  She is very committed to meeting the needs of the clients and staff.

Employment Coach

Maureen is an Employment Coach who takes a personal interest in clients. Her background is in resource referral, peer counseling and volunteer coordination.  Maureen is a founding member of Community Opportunities for Independence Now (COIN) and it’s adjunct program, 2nd Byte Computer Recycling. Maureen is a certified Unified Transition Theory (UTT) and True Colors ™ facilitator and has taught the Advanced Resume workshop.

Noni comes to us with a background in social work and has worked in the social service sector for 14+ years.  Noni is also an accomplished musician, music teacher and financial wizard, as well as a creative gardener. Noni thoroughly enjoys the creative process of career exploration and has been able to provide insight and awareness for even the most unusual situations.

Employment Coach

JPP (JobWave) Coordinator

As a Certified Career Development Practioner Peri works as an Employment Coach as well as the JobWave Coordinator.  She is also a Certified Administrator of the EQi™  tool for Emotional Intelligence Assessment.  She has many years of experience dealing with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Her compassionate but firm no-nonsense approach has earned her the respect of clients and colleagues alike.

Administrative Receptionist  

When walking through the SCEC front door, Shelley is the first person you will see.  With her effervescent personality and Colgate smile, she will find out what your needs are and point you in the right direction.  Shelley takes on many roles in her job at the Centre:  booking appointments for our programs and case managers, scheduling workshops, creating brochures, designing ads and workshops, website design and maintenance and compiling monthly reports and statistics. These are only a few of the things Shelley does for the Centre.

Research & Development

PST Administrator

Most people remember Angel for her friendly, helpful manner.  She finds satisfaction in assisting clients of all backgrounds to acquire the necessary tools and self-sufficiency needed to ensure success in their employment & training goals.  Angel can be found busy in many capacities within the organization.  She keeps active developing Job Fairs, co-ordinating Career Week, creating databases, and conducting research etc.  Angel is the PST Administrator and also facilitates one of the resume workshops each month.  The completion of the Career Development Facilitator's program and her proficiency in the use of computers helps her provide support within the centre.

Employment Coach

As a key member of our team, Cheryl is our Resource Supervisor. When registering with our centre, Cheryl is one of our client's first contacts and she is sought after for her reassuring demeanor and attentive assistance. As our main source of client support in the resource area, she not only assists clients but also competently troubleshoots our Mac computers. Skilled in composing resumes and cover letters, if you need reliable, knowledgeable help - see Cheryl.

IT Resource Administrator

Scott first came to the employment centre as a client and now administrates our technical systems as well as assists clients in the Resource Centre.  Scott has worked with many large organizations including the CIBC and two TSE listed medical software companies.  Scott currently holds a B.Sc., an MCSE as well as a Networking Specialist Diploma.  When not in the office you will find Scott exploring the various trails across the Sunshine Coast.

Resource Technician

Employers wanting to post jobs can contact Debbie in person, over the phone or through email. She will ensure postings are promptly added to our Job Boards & forwarded to the SCEC website Hot Sheet. She makes it her goal to be of assistance wherever needed.

 

 

 

 

D'Arcy:  email

Client Resource

D’Arcy  has a background in marketing, 3d animation, proposal writing, and research. Always interested in meeting new people and helping them with attaining their goals. D’Arcy lives by the motto, “ that everyone is good at something and everyone needs support and encouragement to be successful in life”. D’Arcy has made the Coast his home for seven years and has a wife and four wonderful boys.

 

 

  

Merv: email

Theo/Cap Counsellor

Merv is the CAP and THEO Counsellor at SCES and has been a resident of the Sunshine Coast since 2002. Merv has a background in Trades, Mining, Union Counselling, Civil Politics and Business Ownership. Merv has a Professional Counselling Diploma and is a Certified Addiction Worker.
